Steve completed a masters degree in 2005 and holds a position on the jazz faculty of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where he has been teaching since 1998. Steve is a desciple of the "Hal Galper -Forward Motion" school of teaching and offers lessons for intermediate to advanced students of all instruments.

Steve can take students of the Conservatorium (Highschool, tertiary, open Acadamy) at his room at the conservatorium or offers private lessons at his home studio in the inner city suburb of Newtown, for non-Con students.

Considered a Bebop teaching specialist, Steve draws from a wide range of teaching and playing experience. His teachers have included: David Baker, John Schofield, Jack Wilkins, Dave Leibman and Hal Galper.

Throughout his 35 year career, Steve has been fortunate to work with many of the worlds leading jazz musicians : Dale Barlow, James Morrison, Don Burrows, Errol Buddle, Col Nolan, Ralph Lalama, Terry Clarke, Harvey Swartz, John Mastrioanni, Jimmy Witherspoon, Sam & Dave, Giacomo Gates, US Organ player Tony Monarco, Indonesian Jazz pianist Indra Lesmana and has played at all of Australia and Europes' major Jazz festivals.
